Acid Reflux

Acid reflux is a very common condition that causes heartburn to millions of people at least once a month. It occurs when stomach acid, which normally aids in the breakdown of foods in the stomach, rises up in the esophagus instead.

With Acupuncture, laser acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Tuina massage and naturopathic advice, we can help you to resolve symptoms, decrease stress and design an individualized diet essential to address acid reflux.

Signs & Symptoms of Acid Reflux

The most common symptoms of acid reflux are:

  • Heartburn, a burning sensation in the middle of the chest that travels up from the stomach into the throat and can radiate to the back
  • A sour, bitter taste in the mouth
  • Belching
  • Bad breath
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Nausea and vomiting

Those of our patients who suffer from chronic acid reflux often also experience throat dryness and coughing.

Causes of Acid Reflux

In our experience, a number of conditions can cause acid reflux, including:

  • A hiatal hernia
  • H Pylori infections
  • Pregnancy
  • Being overweight

Many other factors can also contribute to the symptoms, such as:

  • Stress
  • Overeating
  • Eating before going to bed
  • A diet high in salty, spicy, greasy foods
  • Alcohol and caffeine
  • Tobacco
  • Frequent use of certain medications

How we treat Acid Reflux

Antacid medications, although commonly used to counter acid reflux symptoms, can also decrease the patient’s digestive power over time. This is why we, at the Nei Jing center in Jerusalem, prefer to use traditional Chinese treatment methods to balance the digestive organs. Using acupuncture and laser acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Tuina massage and naturopathic advice, we can help you to resolve symptoms, decrease stress and design an individualized diet essential to address acid reflux.

People Say

I’ve had problems with acid reflux for at least fifteen years, and nobody was able to tell me why. I was tested for H Pylori, but the test was negative, though the doctor said the test was not always completely reliable. I was taking medication for it every day, but I still had the constant fear that anything I ate would trigger an episode. At Nei Jing, I started with a session of Tuina, and almost immediately started to feel better. I continued with acupuncture and special teas, and I can honestly say it changed my life.

People Say

My wife came to Nei Jing about a year ago, looking to treat an eczema problem that she’d had for years. She had good results with it, so I finally took the step to decide to try it for my own issues. I have a hiatal hernia, and have suffered from acid reflux for a very long time. The worst of it was how it kept me up at night and consistently ruined my sleep. Acupuncture and Tuina helped me a lot. There were a few days at first when it seemed I was feeling worse, but the symptoms cleared up very quickly after that. I still have to be careful with fried food especially, but I practically haven’t had a single problem since my treatment.
