Gastritis
Gastritis and duodenitis are two common, related gastrointestinal conditions that tend to occur together, when the lining of the stomach and duodenum (the first part of the small intestine) is damaged, leading to inflammation.
With acupuncture, laser acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Tuina massage and naturopathic advice, we can help you to resolve your symptoms of gastritis.
Signs & Symptoms of Gastritis
Such inflammation, in our experience, is signaled by a cluster of symptoms that includes:
- Abdominal pain that can become worse or better after eating
- A recurrent upset stomach, indigestion
- Abdominal bloating
- Belching and gas
- Nausea, vomiting
- Constipation and diarrhea
- Loss of appetite
Left untreated, long-term gastro-intestinal inflammation can also lead to:
- Anemia
- Gastrointestinal ulcers
- Sleep disturbances
- Emotional imbalances
Causes of Gastritis
The most common cause that we encounter in our patients by far is exposure to the bacteria H. Pylori. Many other emotional and lifestyle factors, however, can also lead to chronic inflammation or leave the body more vulnerable to infectious agents, increasing the risk of developing symptoms. These include:
- The frequent use of certain painkillers
- Strong alcohol
- Chronic stress
- A diet rich in fried and processed foods
- Smoking
